Scott County is the Twin Cities metro's entertainment gateway, the stretch of Minnesota River bluff country where Canterbury Park's racetrack, the Valleyfair midway, and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community's Mystic Lake draw crowds from across the region. One of Minnesota's fastest-growing counties, it is governed from Shakopee—a river town first settled beside the Dakota village of Chief Shakopee.
Booking for Scott County runs through the Scott County Jail, a 264-bed facility that opened in 2005 inside the Scott County Law Enforcement Center at 301 Fuller Street South in Shakopee, MN 55379. The Scott County Sheriff's Office operates the jail, and its correctional staff handle intake and custody around the clock. When the Sheriff's Office or a city police department—from Shakopee and Savage to Prior Lake, Jordan, and Belle Plaine—makes an arrest, the person is typically brought here to be screened and photographed, and that intake photo becomes the booking record.
The Sheriff's Office posts a free online jail roster that lists people currently in custody along with their booking details. To browse the booking photos and arrest records gathered for this county, open the full Scott County mugshot gallery here on America's Top Mugshots.
About Scott County
Scott County sits on the south bank of the Minnesota River, the fast-growing southwestern corner of the seven-county Twin Cities metro. It was established in 1853 and named for General Winfield Scott, the long-serving U.S. Army commander, while its county seat, Shakopee, carries the name of the Dakota chief whose village stood along the river here when the first traders arrived. Today roughly 157,000 people live in the county, up from about 151,000 at the 2020 census, making it the ninth-most-populous in Minnesota and one of the fastest-growing over the past two decades. Shakopee is both the county seat and the largest city, followed by Prior Lake, Savage, and Jordan. The county is best known as a regional entertainment hub: Canterbury Park hosts live horse racing, Valleyfair is Minnesota's largest amusement park, and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community operates Mystic Lake Casino just outside Prior Lake. As part of the metro core, Scott County borders Hennepin County across the river to the north and Dakota County to the east.
