Hennepin County is the most populous county in Minnesota, with roughly 1.28 million residents, and encompasses Minneapolis—the state's largest city. Its Adult Detention Center in downtown Minneapolis is the busiest booking facility in Minnesota, processing more arrests than any other jurisdiction in the state.
The Hennepin County Adult Detention Center (ADC) is operated by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and serves as the primary booking and intake jail for the county. The facility is located in the downtown Minneapolis Public Safety Facility at 401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415, with additional housing connected to Minneapolis City Hall. Arrests made by the Minneapolis Police Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, the University of Minnesota Police, and the many suburban police departments across the county are routed to the ADC for processing.
The Sheriff's Office maintains a public online jail roster at jailroster.hennepin.us that lists individuals currently in custody as well as those booked within the previous 90 days and released within the last several days. Each entry typically includes booking date, charges, and bail or bond information. The roster is updated continuously as new bookings are processed, and the facility can also be reached by phone for inmate information. Alongside the official county roster, you can browse Hennepin County mugshots and booking photos compiled here on America's Top Mugshots.
Jail vs. Adult Corrections Facility
Hennepin County operates two distinct corrections facilities that are often confused. The Adult Detention Center in downtown Minneapolis is the jail—it handles booking, intake, and pretrial detention. The separate Adult Corrections Facility (ACF) in Plymouth houses people who have already been sentenced. Booking photographs and intake records originate at the ADC.
About Hennepin County
Hennepin County is the economic engine of Minnesota. Its county seat, Minneapolis, is the largest city in the state and, together with neighboring St. Paul, forms the core of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The county is home to several Fortune 500 headquarters, including Target and U.S. Bancorp, as well as the main campus of the University of Minnesota. Landmarks range from the Chain of Lakes and the Mississippi riverfront to U.S. Bank Stadium and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Suburbs such as Bloomington (home of the Mall of America), Plymouth, Brooklyn Park, Minnetonka, and Edina make Hennepin both the most urban and one of the most economically diverse counties in the Upper Midwest. As the anchor of the seven-county Twin Cities metro, Hennepin sits alongside neighboring Anoka, Dakota, and Scott counties, and you can compare arrest data across every Minnesota county with published records on our statewide hub.
