Olmsted County is Minnesota's Med City, the southeastern county where the Mayo Clinic's downtown campus has grown Rochester into the state's third-largest city and a global destination for medical care. Set in the rolling farm country of the Zumbro River valley, it pairs a world-renowned hospital economy with the small towns and bluff-country landscape of southeastern Minnesota.
Arrest bookings in Olmsted County are handled at the Adult Detention Center (ADC), the county jail at 101 4th Street SE in downtown Rochester, MN 55904. The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office operates this maximum-security facility, which opened in 1993 and is rated for about 202 beds. When the Sheriff's Office, the Rochester Police Department, or one of the smaller city departments in the county makes an arrest, the person is typically brought to the ADC to be screened, fingerprinted, and photographed, and that intake photo becomes the booking record.
To see who is being held, the Sheriff's Office maintains an online Who Is in Custody list on the county website. The booking photos and arrest records compiled for the county are gathered in the Olmsted County mugshot gallery on this site.
About Olmsted County
Olmsted County sits in the rolling farmland of southeastern Minnesota, drained by the Zumbro River, and takes its name from David Olmsted, a member of the territory's first legislative council who later served as the fourth mayor of St. Paul. The county was created in 1855, and its seat from the start has been Rochester—today Minnesota's third-largest city, with about 123,000 residents. Countywide population has climbed to roughly 166,000, up from 162,847 at the 2020 census, making Olmsted one of the most populous counties in the state outside the Twin Cities. What sets it apart is medicine: Rochester grew up around the Mayo Clinic, whose flagship campus and landmark Plummer Building anchor a downtown that draws patients from around the world and earns the city its nickname, the Med City. That hospital-and-research economy, alongside a long-standing IBM presence and farm towns such as Stewartville that ring the city, keeps the county's job base unusually steady for its size. Arrest and jail records here are public under Minnesota law—the same framework that governs the larger Twin Cities counties such as Hennepin and Dakota.
