Major County Mugshots & Booking Records

The selenite-capped mesas of the Gloss Mountains rise from the wheat country northwest of Fairview, the Major County seat.
Okiefromokla, Wikimedia Commons · Public domain
Northwest of Fairview, the flat-topped mesas of the Gloss Mountains break the wheat country with bands of glittering selenite gypsum, a landscape found nowhere else in the region. Major County was carved from the southern part of old Woods County when Oklahoma became a state in 1907 and named for a delegate to its constitutional convention. Every arrest booked here joins a public county record.
Anyone arrested in Major County is booked into the Major County Jail, a small detention center at 500 East Broadway in Fairview that is run by the Major County Sheriff’s Office. The jail takes in people picked up by sheriff’s deputies, by Fairview officers, and by the police in the county’s outlying towns, and it holds each inmate until bond is set or the case reaches a judge. The sheriff’s office posts an online in-custody inmate search that lists current bookings and the charges filed, while Oklahoma’s statewide VINE service sends custody and release alerts to anyone who signs up. Bookings logged across the county also surface on the Major County mugshot grid.
About Major County
Major County lies in northwestern Oklahoma and was created at statehood in 1907 from the southern part of the old territorial Woods County, taking its name from John Charles Major, a local resident who served as a delegate to the 1906 constitutional convention. Fairview is the seat and biggest town, while Cleo Springs, Meno, Ringwood, and Ames spread across the surrounding farm and grazing land; Meno owes its name to the Mennonite families who settled the area after moving south from Kansas. The county’s signature landmark is the Gloss Mountains, a run of gypsum-capped mesas northwest of Fairview that glint with selenite crystals and once hid the territorial-era outlaws Dick Yeager and Ike Black. Wheat and cattle still anchor the economy, joined since the early oil years by gas and crude pulled from the Ames Structure — a buried impact crater that traps petroleum underground — and the Ringwood field, with the 1928 stone courthouse still standing on the Fairview square. For booking records nearby, the site also covers Garfield County to the east and Woodward County to the west, and the full Oklahoma county directory links the rest of the state.
