Howard County Mugshots & Booking Records

The Howard County Courthouse in Nashville, Arkansas

Nashville, Arkansas, is the small Ouachita-foothills town where William T. Dillard opened his very first department store back in 1938, long before the chain spread nationwide. Surrounded by old peach country that has since turned to cattle pastures and poultry barns, the Howard County seat still records every local arrest, and those booking files become public the moment deputies finish the paperwork.

The Howard County Detention Facility sits at 101 Isaac C. Perkins Bypass in Nashville, the county lockup run by the Howard County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Bryan McJunkins. It holds people arrested by county deputies and by Nashville city police until a judge sets bond or the case wraps up. An online jail roster from the sheriff's office separates a current-detainee list from a feed of everyone let go within the previous 48 hours, while the statewide VINE service follows the same custody changes by phone. Every booking entry pairs a name and mugshot with the filed charges and the date the arrest was logged. The jail desk answers at (870) 845-2626.

About Howard County

Howard County was carved out in 1873 from pieces of four older counties, among them present-day neighbors Hempstead on the southeast, Sevier on the west, and Polk to the north. Roughly 12,800 residents live here, most clustered in and around Nashville, the seat since voters pried it loose from Center Point in 1905. The town picked up a footnote in retail history in February 1938, when a young William T. Dillard opened the first store of the chain that still bears his name just off the courthouse square. Orchards once draped these hills with peaches — Nashville moved hundreds of thousands of bushels at the trade's mid-century height — yet the ground has long since gone over to cattle and chicken farming, with cutlery and apparel plants rounding out the paychecks. Out toward the county's western edge, the Cossatot River churns through the Ouachita foothills, a stretch of whitewater that pulls paddlers in from across the region. The H-shaped brick courthouse, built in the Moderne style with 1939 Public Works Administration money, still holds down the center of town.
