Carroll County Mugshots & Booking Records

Two great rivers meet at Carrollton, the Carroll County seat: the Ohio and the Kentucky. This north-central Kentucky county has approximately 10,800 residents and a history rooted in 19th-century river commerce.

The Carroll County Detention Center is located in Carrollton and processes bookings from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Carrollton Police Department, and other local agencies. Booking records are publicly accessible under the Kentucky Open Records Act (KRS 61.870–61.884). As one of Kentucky's smaller counties, the facility handles a modest volume of bookings but remains an essential part of the regional criminal justice system.

Carrollton sits at the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers, a geographic position that made it an important river town during the 19th century. The town was established in 1794 and served as a center of river commerce. Today, Carrollton is known for General Butler State Resort Park, which overlooks the confluence of the two rivers and includes the historic Butler-Turpin House. The town is also the site of a major Kentucky Utilities power plant and several manufacturing operations.

About Carroll County

Carroll County is one of the smallest counties in Kentucky by population but holds geographic significance at the junction of two major rivers. The county is predominantly rural, with agriculture and manufacturing forming the economic base. Carroll County's location along I-71 between Louisville and Cincinnati provides highway access, and the county has attracted some industrial development as a result. Ghent, a small community in the eastern part of the county along the Ohio River, is home to a major power generation facility. The county's small size means that most law enforcement and judicial functions are handled efficiently through a compact system centered in Carrollton.
