Home to Little Rock, the state capital, Pulaski County is the population and government center of Arkansas, with more residents than any other county in the state. Roughly four hundred thousand people live across Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Jacksonville, and Maumelle, a Central Arkansas metro defined by the State Capitol, the Clinton Presidential Center, and the enduring legacy of Little Rock Central High.
Most people arrested anywhere in Pulaski County are booked into the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, the jail at 3201 West Roosevelt Road in Little Rock that books the highest volume of any county lockup in Arkansas. The county sheriff's office runs it, accepting arrests from agencies across the capital area: the Little Rock and North Little Rock police departments, the smaller city forces in Sherwood, Jacksonville, and Maumelle, and deputies assigned to the unincorporated county. At intake, each arrestee is photographed and their charges and bond amount are entered into the jail's records.

About Pulaski County
Created in 1818 and named for Casimir Pulaski, the Polish cavalry officer who died fighting in the American Revolution, Pulaski County grew into the political and economic heart of the state. Little Rock, the county seat, is both the state capital and Arkansas's largest city, home to the State Capitol, state agencies, major hospitals, and the banks and law firms that anchor the regional economy.
