Jackson County Mugshots & Booking Records
The 1892 Jackson County Courthouse in Newport, the county seat.

Newport, the seat of Jackson County, earned a spot in music history when its Highway 67 nightclubs drew Elvis Presley and a young Johnny Cash in the 1950s, a stretch later christened the Rock 'n' Roll Highway. Alongside that legacy the county logs every local arrest, and this page collects Jackson County mugshots and the booking details behind them.
Every arrest in the county runs through the Jackson County Detention Center, a small jail at 3300 Theater Drive in Newport that works out of the same complex as the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Overseen by the sheriff and a jail captain, it books people picked up by county deputies, Newport police, and Arkansas State Police, holding each one through fingerprinting, a booking photo, and the wait for a bond hearing. The county runs no self-serve roster page of its own, so the fastest way to confirm that someone is in custody is the statewide VINE service or a call to the jail at (870) 523-5842. About Jackson County
Jackson County was organized in 1829, split off from Independence County and named for Andrew Jackson as he climbed toward the presidency. The seat shifted several times before landing at Newport in 1891; the older river town of Jacksonport, once a bustling White River shipping port, is now a state park where roughly 6,000 Confederate troops gave up their arms in 1865. About 16,800 people live across the county today, in Newport and smaller towns such as Tuckerman, Swifton, and Diaz, on a Delta economy of rice, soybeans, and a few factories. Newport's most enduring fame, though, is musical: the Silver Moon Club and other roadhouses strung along U.S. 67 hosted Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash in the 1950s, which is why the road now carries the official name Rock 'n' Roll Highway. For arrests in neighboring counties, look at Craighead County to the northeast, Independence County to the west, and White County to the southwest, or head back to our statewide Arkansas mugshots hub.
